FREDERICK
RICHARD.

GYMNAST • CREATOR • ENTREPRENEUR

Chasing the highest level of gymnastics while building something much bigger around the sport.

Frederick Richard
where it started

HE ALWAYS WANTED
TO BE IN THE GYM.

Fred started gymnastics at two years old alongside his sister. He was quickly kicked out for not listening or following directions and was told to come back when he was old enough to follow the rules.

He returned at four. By eight, he was asking his family to skip vacations so he could stay home and train.

From an early age, Fred wanted to become the best gymnast in the world. The gym was where he always wanted to be — and it still is today.

THE GYM WAS HOME THEN.
IT STILL IS NOW.

Fred spent his early years training in Stoughton, Massachusetts, building the foundation for everything that followed.

UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN

Fred now trains at the University of Michigan Sports Coliseum, where he continues to push toward the highest level of the sport.

The coaches Fred grew up with became more than coaches. Tom Fontecchio and Levon Karakhanyan remain close friends, mentors and important parts of his gymnastics journey today.

FROM MAKING

Fred believes men’s gymnastics uniforms should evolve. Traditional unitards and stirrup pants have always felt uncomfortable and outdated to him — and he knows he’s not alone.

By competing in a looser, more modern uniform — a sleeveless top with shorts, and later shorts with compression leggings — Fred has accepted deductions to make a statement: gymnasts should be able to feel comfortable and confident in what they wear.

This is about more than a uniform. It’s about the next generation of male gymnasts feeling free to be themselves while still excelling at the highest level.

SAME SPORT. A BRIGHTER FUTURE.
